Global Green Award for Climate Adaptation
International recognition for outstanding contribution to community-led climate adaptation and biodiversity conservation in wetland ecosystems, awarded by the Environmental League in March 2024.
About This Award
The Global Green Award represents the Environmental League's highest honor for organizations demonstrating exceptional innovation in climate adaptation and conservation. Our Wetland Conservation & Community Adaptation project in Tanguar Haor was selected from among 120+ nominations across 40 countries.
The award specifically recognized our participatory governance model — which balances ecological protection with livelihood needs — as a scalable framework for community-based conservation in climate-vulnerable regions worldwide.
Recognition Criteria
The Environmental League evaluated our work against four core pillars of environmental excellence.
Ecological Impact
2.4× fish biomass recovery in conservation zones, 67% reduction in illegal fishing, and measurable improvements in water quality and bird populations.
Community Ownership
