Sustainable Tourism in Tanguar Haor
Community-led eco-tourism that generates dignified income while preserving the natural heritage and biodiversity of one of Bangladesh's most vital wetlands.
About This Program
A community-owned eco-tourism model that turns natural heritage into lasting economic opportunity.
Daahuk's Sustainable Tourism initiative connects visitors with the extraordinary biodiversity of Tanguar Haor while ensuring that revenue flows directly to local households. By training community guides, renovating traditional boats, and establishing fair-trade booking infrastructure, we have created a replicable model for nature-based enterprise.
The program operates through a cooperative governance structure in which participating households hold equity stakes, vote on revenue distribution, and sit on the enterprise management board.
